Meet Your Host
Hawaiian Pickleball Ambassador JACK HODGES will be leading a group of pickleball enthusiasts to Australia for the 2019 Australian Pickleball Championships and social matches in Brisbane and Gold Coast, Queensland. Hodges was the first to take baseball teams to several cities in Australia, and he'll show the way again as the first to ever take USA Pickleball players to the Land Down Under in October 2019.
Hodges began his life in Pickleball in 2011 upon retiring from a 42-year career as a coach, teacher (journalism and English) and professor of Kinesiology/Physical Education. He then soon became a USAPA Ambassador in Dana Point, California and in 2012 moved to Paso Robles, California where he helped start the game on the Central Coast of California and served as the District Ambassador for the California Central Coast. Another move to Kauai, Hawaii in 2015 found Hodges spearheading the Pickleball movement on Kauai. Jack also serves Hawaii’s other islands in an advisory capacity as the District Pickleball Ambassador for the State of Hawaii.
As a baseball coach, Jack Hodges, was a pioneer in international baseball by taking several baseball teams to compete in Australia (and several other countries) as the founder and Head Coach of the American Eagles Baseball Club.
Hodges’ esteemed life in baseball saw him retire in 2011 from Saddleback College (Mission Viejo, CA). Jack retired as the all-time winningest coach, in any sport, in Saddleback College history. He led his teams to 13 playoff appearances, six Southern California final four appearances, two Orange Empire Conference championships, three state final four appearances (1998, 2003, & 2004) and guided the Gauchos to the pinnacle of the sport, winning the 2004 State championship. He also served as a Coach with the USA Junior National Baseball Team on four different occasions.
Jack is a Hawaiian Islands native and was an all-around athlete in high school where he lettered in football, baseball, basketball, and track. He played both baseball and football at Stanford University before embarking on a brief stint as professional baseball player with the Kansas City Royals.
Jack’s wife Stephanie is also an accomplished pickleball player and will be traveling to Australia with the group. To email Jack please click here.
